Explore Western New York
History, Outdoors, Sports & More
Although western New York doesn’t quite possess the same public notoriety of New York City, it certainly maintains its own unique, urban charm and cultural capacity residents and visitors alike continually revel in.
Buffalo alone is home to quite the collection delightful destinations and attractions. In fact, three of New York State’s most treasured pro sports franchises can found in the Queen City.
Football fans make their way to Ralph Wilson Stadium in droves on Sundays to cheer on the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. Likewise, their NHL counterparts, the Buffalo Sabers, slice and slap the ice at the First Niagara Center. We can’t forget about the Buffalo Bison, though – The MiLB affiliate of the neighboring Toronto Blue Jays proudly represent Buffalo with their brand of thrilling Minor League Baseball.
However, Buffalo is known for much more than sports. Just ask any history buff about the multitude of outstanding museums and cultural centers abounds, like the Theatre District of Western New York, the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, and the Teddy Roosevelt Inaugural Site.
Make your way through the cities of Rochester and Jamestown and you’ll come across the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy and the Rochester Museum & Science Center – both come highly regarded among locals and residents alike.
Of course, what would any Buffalo visit be without catching a glimpse of the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls State Park? The majestic falls frequently bring guests from Cheektowaga, Lackanna, and Lockport for a famed, soaking-wet Maid of the Mist Tour. If you’re looking for a little more hands-on adventure, nothing beats the Tifft Nature Preserve and the Erie Canalway Trail – both houses of western New York’s best scenery and excitement.
With so much to do and see in western New York, you’re biggest problem might be deciding where to start.
