New York Hotel Reservations
Fall is an invitation to experience Upstate New York’s beauty before the coming winter cold sends people seeking shelter. This time of year, communities from Watertown to Canton to Plattsburgh make it easy to get out and enjoy the milder weather, inviting visitors to join in a variety of festivals, holiday celebrations, and family-friendly activities.
First-time visitors should take time to get out and explore Upstate New York’s immersive countryside while it dons its finest red gown, and there’s no better way to see it all than on a fall foliage driving tour. The Adirondack Trail is especially scenic, leading to stops in charming communities like Lake George, Ticonderoga, and Saranac Lake.
Celebrate the fall season at historic Fort Ticonderoga during the Maze By Moonlight event hosted on October 28th and 29th. The two-day festival will challenge visitors to make there way through a six-acre corn maze using only flashlights. This event is general admission and is a fun time for the whole family.
Get into the holiday spirit at the Lake Placid Holiday Stroll taking place from December 9th through the 11th. Festive activities, including entertainment, dining, shopping, and plenty of kids’ fun, are available all day. Even better, the event is free of admission.
Bundle up and visit Saranac Lake this winter during the annual Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. The festival will be hosted from February 3rd through the 12th on River Street in Saranac Lake. Festivities include winter sporting events, festive parades, dazzling fireworks displays, and more. Don’t forget to check out the Ice Palace during your visit.
Not long after the carnival, Saranac Lake shows off its sporty side this February during the 2017 World Snowshoe Championships. The competition will be held from February 23rd to the 25th, featuring a 5K junior, 5K adult, and 10K distance courses. There’ll be tons of unique entertainment and post-race fun through Saranac Lake.
