Outdoor Activities in Upstate New York

Exploring Small Town NY & Adirondack Park

Outdoor enjoyment in northern New York is easily done. Home to the six-million-acre Adirondack Park, plus small towns perfect for recreation throughout the year, New York is the perfect getaway for those looking to get on their feet.

Upstate New York is ideal for fishing, golfing, hiking and even soaking in mineral springs. Go kayaking in Canton, or set foot on the Avenue of Elms Trail with your camera ready. Head to Plattsburgh for bass fishing on Lake Champlain – not to mention summer fun at Plattsburgh Municipal Beach. For a good soak, make your way to Saratoga Springs for a dip in some mineral springs, or take the skis for a trip to the Dry Hill Ski Area – only in upstate New York.

Of course outdoor recreation in northern New York takes you to Adirondack Park. The scenic area surrounding Lake Placid and Saranac Lake is home to great golf, skiing and hiking. Hit one of the Adirondack High Peaks, or go fly-fishing on the Ausable River. The southern region of Adirondack Park hosts Lake George and Ticonderoga – two more great place for outdoor adventure. Try whitewater rafting in Lake George, or hop on a pair of skis or a snowmobile in Ticonderoga when the temperatures drop.
