Visiting Upstate & Northern New York
Western New York is a prime winter destination for east coast travelers. While the snow is certainly thick, the communities across the Niagara region – from Olean to Dunkirk to Lockport – aren’t shying away from enjoying a wealth of festivals, holiday celebrations, pro sports, and dazzling attractions, including the ever-popular Niagara Falls beautiful during the winter.
Winter is a great time to be a sports fan in Buffalo. At Ralph Wilson Stadium, the Buffalo Bills will be taking on foes from the AFC East until early January. Be there when the Bills try and defeat the Miami Dolphins on December 24th.
Hockey fans won’t get left out in the cold during the winter, however. The Buffalo Sabres will also provide plenty of competitive action this season, playing 41 home games at First Niagara Center. Check the schedule during your visit and be a part of the action.
It’s all power play and play action in western NY – the Share the Bounty, A Wine Tasting Event brings great times all along the Niagara Wine Trail. The event is hosted November 11th through the 13th.
Later in the month, Youngstown comes alive with holiday cheer during the Fatima Shrine Festival of Lights November 19th through January 6th. The event will feature dazzling holiday lights thoughtfully spread across nearly 75 trees at the Lady of Fatima Shrine.
The holiday cheer continues in Jamestown during the Jamestown Annual Christmas Parade, set for December 2nd. Over 200 floats will make their way down Third Street starting at 6:30 p.m. The evening will finish things off with a fun-filled tree-lighting ceremony at Tracy Plaza.
