Let the Rangers, Islanders & Sabres Entertain
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Once you’ve had your fill of those must-sees, make your way over to Madison Square Garden, where, during the fall and into the winter and spring, the New York Rangers square off against other NHL foes with hopes of reaching Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Just across the East River, you’ll travel into Uniondale, an affable city that calls itself home to the New York Islanders. Winning four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1979-83, the Islanders developed their own populous of fans, cultivating Long Island as their base, with fans ranging from Woodbury, to Massapequa.
Head to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum during the fall for the thrills and spills of Islanders hockey – you can be one of more than 16,000 fans cheering for a victory. Or at least some hard board-checks.
In the Buffalo area and western region of New York, the hockey landscape is dominated by the Buffalo Sabres. Although they lack in the nature of winning Stanley Cups, the Sabres have had a rich history; founded in 1970, the team has won six division titles, and one President’s Trophy, along with three conference championships.
Travel in from nearby cities like Niagara Falls or Jamestown, and visit the First Niagara Center, home of Buffalo Sabres hockey. Enjoy the intense battles as the Sabres fight through the tough Northeast division of the Eastern Conference.
