Beaver Lake Nature Center

The Beaver Lake Nature Center, located west of Syracuse in Central New York, encompasses 650 acres of land. The center is situated next to Mud Lake in the Beaver Lake County Park and features more than 400 annual programs about the natural world. Be sure to bring your binoculars to spy the 200 species of birds living near the center.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport

Syracuse Hancock International Airport, located northeast of Syracuse, opened in 1949, as the Clarence E. Hancock Airport. The first commercial flights were provided by American, Robinson, Buffalo and Colonial Airlines. Soon after the airport was built, Interstate 81 opened adjacent to the airport, allowing direct access to the airport. The airport has seen many improvements throughout the years, including lengthening of the runways,  adding runway lighting and an instrument landing system.

The airport provides general aviation services in addition to commercial air travel. Central New York travelers looking for commercial flights have a choice of seven major commercial airlines and ten affiliate airlines. Daily flights are available to many U.S. cities including Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Boston, Cleveland and Philadelphia. While waiting for a flight, stroll through the Discover the Airport! Exhibit located on the main floor in the terminal.
