Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area

The region was acknowledged in 1996.

Saratoga Automobile Museum

Opened in 2002, the Saratoga Automobile Museum is located in the Hudson Valley city of Saratoga Springs, New York. Sharing the grounds of Saratoga Spa State Park, the museum is housed in a former bottling facility constructed in 1935.

The museum features three galleries with the combined capacity to display around 30 vehicles. Complete with a hands-on display, perfect for visitors with young ones, the museum hosts rotating exhibitions and traveling shows. The building also serves as headquarters for the New York State Stock Car Association Hall of Fame.

Saratoga Lake

Stretching over 4.5 miles long – and over a mile wide at its widest point – Saratoga Lake is set in the community of Saratoga Springs in the eastern part of the Hudson Valley region.

The lake's freshwater, provided by Kayaderosseras Creek, offers a wealth of seasonal activities, including boating in warmer months, and ice skating during the winter.

Saratoga Lake has a longstanding history with the sport of rowing – the Rowing Association of American Colleges hosted the University Race for the Championship on the lake in 1874.

Legend holds that George Crum invented potato chips at Moon's Lake House, which overlooks the lake's north end.

Saratoga National Historical Park

An official United States National Historical Park, Saratoga National Historical Park is 40 miles north of Albany in the Hudson Valley region.

The park commemorates and preserves the site of the Battles of Saratoga – the first important victory over the British army during the American Revolutionary War.

Visitors to the park will find several historical buildings and monuments, including Masonic Saratoga Monument and the General Phillip Schuyler House.

History buffs revel in the remains of the Marshall House, built in 1773 before being bombarded by American troops who suspected it to be an enemy headquarters.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Situated on the grounds of the Saratoga Spa State Park, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center draws theater and music fans to Saratoga Springs, New York – north of Albany in the Hudson Valley region. Serving as the summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra, the facility is made up of an outdoor amphitheater and a smaller, indoor theater.

The Center is a go-to stop for big-name tours traveling through the area. Past headliners have included Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Maroon 5, and Elton John. Each fall, the facilities host the Wine & Food Fest Grand Tasting.

Saratoga Raceway & Casino

First opened in 1863, the Saratoga Raceway & Casino is a Thoroughbred horse racing track set in Saratoga Springs, New York – north of Albany in the Hudson Valley region. The city of Saratoga Springs has been a leader in horse breeding and racing since as early as the 1840s, and the Saratoga Race Course is the oldest racetrack in the United States.

Operated by the New York Racing Association, the facilities feature a main dirt track, a turf track and a smaller, inner turf track. The course has hosted numerous notable events in its time, including the Travers Stakes, Whitney Handicap, and the Alabama Stakes.

Saratoga Spa State Park

After touring the Capital City of Albany, make your way north to Saratoga Springs. The Spa City is home to numerous active mineral spring geysers, the only location east of the Mississippi River, and the beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park.

In 1909, the springs were made a Reservation for the state of New York, to preserve them. You'll find a premier golf course at the Staratoga Spa State Park Golf Course, too. By 1962, this wonderful area was named a state park. Visit this beautiful park for relaxation and fun in the Victoria Pool and Peerless Pool.

Bring the kids to Peerless Pool for fun on the water slides, and swimming in the Olympic-sized swimming pool. After fun in the water, enjoy listening to jazz music in the Amphitheater of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center or tour the National Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame

Skidmore College

Established in 1903, Skidmore College is a private liberal arts college in the the Hudson Valley community of Saratoga Springs. Under the motto “Scuto amoris divini” or “Under the shield of divine love,” the school enrolls an average of 2,500 students each year.

The Skidmore Thoroughbreds, affectionately known as the “T-Breds,” compete at the NCAA Division III level, with 19 varsity teams, in sports ranging from basketball to rowing. Notable Skidmore alumni include the Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal and actress/model Lake Bell.
