Barclays Center

The most populous of all five New York City boroughs is Brooklyn. Famous for the Brooklyn Bridge, one of America's oldest suspension bridges, this borough is home to the Barclays Center. Construction for this sports arena began in 2010, over the Long Island Rail Road train yard in the Atlantic Yards. The expected completion of the arena is the fall of 2012, in time for the 2012-2013 season of the National Basketball Association's Brooklyn Nets. Once the Nets leave Newark, New Jersey to play in Brooklyn, they'll become the first major league sports team in Brooklyn since 1957, when the Dodgers left for Los Angeles.

September 2012 is the projected opening date for this $4.9 billion business, residential and sports area complex. This incredible sports arena will also be the home to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice. Bayclays will host many concerts, Atlantic 10 Conference games and World Wrestling Entertainment events. Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will be performing at the Barclays Center in December, for his only 2012 New York area performance. Gateway National Recreation Area

The recreation area consists of three units and 11 park sites in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Gateway National Recreation Area is comprised of the Jamaica Bay Unit, the Staten Island Unit, and the Sandy Hook Unit in New Jersey.

The parks within are ideal for swimming, hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing in places like the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Great Kills Park, and even the clothing-optional Gunnison Beach.

MCU Park

Visitors, vacationers and residents of the family-friendly area of New York known as Coney Island, have plenty of options for fun. MCU Park, located in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, is one of them. MCU Park is the minor league baseball stadium for the Brooklyn Cyclones team. The Cyclones have played in MCU Park since 2001 and play in the New York - Penn League and are affiliated with the New York Mets.

The park features 7,500 seats, with a capacity of selling an additional 2,500 standing room only seats. While at a game in MCU Park, be sure to take in the scenic views of the surrounding Coney Island landmarks: the Parachute Jump, the Wonder Wheel and the Coney Island Cyclone. Athletics at Medgar are comprised of a variety of men and women’s NCAA Division III teams – collectively known as the Medgar Evers Cougars – competing in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

Polytechnic University

Founded in 1854, the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering is a private institution found in Brooklyn in the New York City metro area. A poly campus of New York University, NYU Poly is the second oldest engineering and technology college in the US.

Although NYU Poly’s athletics existed independently for many years as the Fighting Blue Jays – at the end of the 2014 season they merged with NYU’s program, becoming the Bobcats. The Bobcats compete as NCAA Division III members in several conferences, like the ECAC and the UAA.

Richmond County Bank Ballpark

With all of the wonderful and exciting sports teams in New York City, visitors will need plenty of time to see them all. From the New York Yankees in Bronx's Yankee Stadium, to the New York Mets in Flushing's Citi Field there is plenty of action. Make time to watch an exciting minor league baseball game in Staten Island's Richmond County Bank Ballpark. This 7,171 seat stadium is the home field for the Staten Island Yankees, affiliates of the New York Yankees, in the New York - Penn League.

Richmond County Bank Ballpark was built on the site of the former New York City B&O Railroad rail yards, overlooking the New York Harbor. The ballpark was completed in 2001 and features sails representing the Staten Island Ferry,  at the ballpark entrance. Celebrate a special occasion at the ballpark by renting the Skyline Suite, with a capacity for sixty people, and enjoy the incredible harbor views. St. Joseph's College Long Island

Founded in 1883, Wagner College is a private liberal arts college located on Staten Island in New York City. Wagner College enrolls roughly 4,000 students each year, studying a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and pre-professional programs.

Must-see sites on campus include the Union Art Gallery, Parker Hall, and the Horrmann Library. Wagner College athletics come in the form of the Wager Seahawks – comprised of 18 teams competing in the Northeast Conference.
