Adelphi University

Founded in 1896, Adelphi University is a private institution of higher learning located in Garden City, New York – just minutes from the  New York City metro area. Adelphi University features a historic campus, housing sites like the Ruth S. Harley University Center, Harvey Hall, and the Alumnae Hall.

Belmont Park

First opened in 1905, Belmont Park is a Thoroughbred horse racing track located in the Elmont area of Hempstead, New York. The New York City-area facility has drawn as many as over 120,000 spectators to events like the Belmont Stakes, Mother Goose Stakes and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic International.

Gateway National Recreation Area

Covering over 26,000 acres and three boroughs in the NYC metro area, the Gateway National Recreation Area is an open area managed by the National Park Service.

The recreation area consists of three units and 11 park sites in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Gateway National Recreation Area is comprised of the Jamaica Bay Unit, the Staten Island Unit, and the Sandy Hook Unit in New Jersey.

The parks within are ideal for swimming, hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing in places like the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Great Kills Park, and even the clothing-optional Gunnison Beach.

Hofstra University

A private, four-year institution, Hofstra University was established in 1935 in the village of Hempstead – just east of New York City. The college features many must-see sites, like the Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary, Globe Theatre replica, and the host-site to the 2008 Presidential Debate.

The Hofstra Pride – featuring 17 varsity teams competing in the Colonial Athletic Association – represents Hofstra athletics. Games are played at Hofstra Arena, University Field, and the Mack Sports Complex.

St. John's University

Established in 1870, St. John’s University is a private, Catholic college found in Queens in New York City. The university enrolls roughly 20,000 students annually, with a diverse range of studies accredited by the Middle Sates Association of Colleges and Schools.

York College

Founded in 1966, York College of the City University of New York is a public liberal arts college located in the Queens neighborhood of Jamaica in New York City. With an urban, 50-acre campus, York College is a member of the City University of New York (CUNY) system.

As a member of the CUNY system, the York College Cardinal competes in the City University of New York Athletic Conference as well. The Cardinal fields a variety of NCAA Division III teams playing home games at venues like Aviator Field, Padavan Preller Field, and Van Cortlandt Park.
