Visiting Buffalo & Western New York State
Spring and summer mean all kinds of outdoor fun in western New York. Adventures await in countless area parks, golf season is in full swing, and communities from Buffalo to Niagara Falls to Jamestown welcome visitors with all sorts of things to see and do. Special events, sports, festivals, one-of-a-kind attractions, and more family-friendly fun than any other season – it’s time to plan your visit to the Niagara Frontier.
Boasting countless new creations for the spring 2016 season, the wineries along the Niagara Wine Trail are ripe for a visit. Wine lovers won’t want to miss the 2016 Taste of the Trail events, from April 16th through 24th, when 11 of the Trail’s wineries open up with special samples and suggested food pairings. Check the schedules at local-favorites like A Gust of Sun Winery and Salamaca Estate Winery, and sip your way from Buffalo to Rochester.
Buffalo may not have an MLB team of its own, but that doesn’t mean baseball fans can’t enjoy a day at the ballpark this spring and summer. The future big-leaguers of the Buffalo Bisons host MiLB action at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, through the first week of September. Check the schedule during your visit to find out when you can be a part of special family nights and more.
This year, Buffalo and nearby Lewiston are stops for some of the biggest concert tours of the summer. On May 24th, Carrie Underwood brings hits like “Before He Cheats” to the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, the 2016 Taste of Chaos tour promises angsty nostalgia from the likes of Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday at Artpark in Lewiston on June 8th, and Styx brings decades of hits to the same venue on August 16th.
Midway rides and games, fried food, agricultural and livestock exhibitions, and more – the 2016 Erie County Fair promises all the fair staples families have come to know and love. It’s all held, August 10th through 21st, at the Hamburg Fairgrounds in Hamburg, just minutes south of Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and Lackawanna. Don’t miss highlights like the Backyard Circus and Puppet Parade, the Bee Tree Trail Draft Horse Spectacular, and performances by Gary the Silent Clown.
