Catskill Park encompasses 700,000 acres in the beautiful Catskill Mountains – just northwest from the New York City metro area. This massive park is contained in Delaware, Sullivan, Greene, and Ulster counties, and operated by the New York Forest Preserve.
Welcoming .5 million annual visitors, Catskills park is ideal for hunting, water recreation on Ashokan Reservoir and Schoharie Reservoir, and hiking up the Slide Mountain – the highest point in the park.
The park also features wildlife viewing, skiing, and learning areas like the Catskill Interpretive Center.
When established in 1885, the borders were drawn on a map with blue ink – later known as the Blue Line. The park, comprised of public and private lands, including the Catskill Forest Preserve state land of 300,000 acres.
