Visiting Lake Placid & New York's Adirondacks
New York State is a massive and diverse landscape of metropolitan cities, must-visit attractions, premier events, thrilling outdoor adventures, and so much more. In the Adirondacks region of the far north, you’ll find no shortage of excellent things to see and do – and during the winter and early spring, this region is electric with excitement.
Out in Watertown you can check out some premier winter skiing this season at the Dry Hill Ski Area, one of the most exceptional skiing destinations in the state. The city of Canton yields excellent campus tours at St. Lawrence University, and the State University of New York at Canton – both are ideal for families looking at colleges.
Be sure to explore Lake Placid during your fall, winter, or spring trek through the Adirondacks. The Adirondack High Peaks can yield excellent hiking day-trips and outdoor, while the Craig Wood Golf Course should be ready to go once the spring arrives. Lake Placid will be in high holiday spirits this winter. Check out the annual Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll from December 9th to 11th. The drive in from nearby Saranac Lake should be quick.
When your late-2016 visit to the Adirondacks of NY has you exploring Plattsburgh, be sure to check out the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House. Here, on November 12th, you can experience this year’s Plattsburgh Arts & Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, and it’s a great way to spend an afternoon in Plattsburgh.
Any trip to the Adirondacks should include a stay in Saratoga Springs. Home to some of the state’s premier attractions like the Saratoga Automobile Museum, Saratoga Lake, and the Saratoga Spa State Park, this city will no doubt yield unmatched thrills and adventures for all.
One of the most anticipated concert events in Saratoga Springs this winter will take place at the Saratoga Raceway & Casino. Visit on December 8th to see The Marshall Tucker Band live in concert. With more than 40 years under their belt, this iconic classic rock band will have you toe-tapping and clapping.
Spring of 2017 in the Adirondacks will bring rejuvenation and a truly stellar musical performance. Visit the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on March 4th and 5th for your chance to see the Albany Symphony perform Mozart and Bach. Their performances start at 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
